About the Artist
Dr. James She is an Associate Professor of Computational Media and Art at HKUST(GZ) and jointly appointed to HKUST’s Division of Arts and Machine Creativity. His work transforms code and complex data into artistic, cultural and sensory wonders with AI and immersive technologies for art, heritage, education, media, and sport.
His research appears in ACM Multimedia, SIGGRAPH/Asia, ISEA, Leonardo, ACM TOMM, and IEEE TMM/TMC/IoT. As Qatar Museums’ Fire Station visiting artist (2020), he launched the region’s first AI-driven art exhibit and media production on cultural heritage and sport. His artworks have also been exhibited globally, including in the UAE, South Korea, Australia, Thailand, China, Austria and beyond.
An active invited speaker and artist, he contributes to international art, creative and tech. events like the Islamic Arts Biennale 2023, Silesian Science Festival 2025, and Hong Kong AI Art Festival 2025, etc. He also leads HKUST(GZ) and HKUST student cohorts to the Ars Electronica Campus Exhibit (2024, 2025) and other international venues, empowering emerging student artists to showcase their work internationally.
